I was very dissapointed after have paid for and had confirmation through Shortrates.com to find upon rinning the hotel that there was no actual booking held, and in fact the hotel was completely full and unable to accommodate my daughter. I will be applying for a refund of the unused voucher

Karaka Tree Motel

The Karaka Tree Motel was clean and adequate and Melissa the receptionist was exceptional and very kind and accommodating. However, my real disappointment was with the amount ShortRates deducted from my Mastercard when I decided to book directly through the Karaka Tree Motel. I did not read the fine print carefully enough and thought I was only going to lose the $4 booking fee, however ended up losing $17.50. This meant the room cost us $147.50 altogether rather than $139 through ShortRates or $130 through the motel. (We paid $130 through the motel + $17.50 with ShortRates.) Our fault certainly, but next time I won't be so quick to use Short Rates. It also took 2 emails to get their attention that I wanted to cancel the booking with them. Sincerely, Lorna Harwood
