I was really unhappy on staying in the sky hotel! it was a terrible experience! I went there by 11.30am, and the receptionist said we could only check in by 3pm! She explained that the check in time is 3o'clock and it is mentioned in the website. Her attitude was really bad and unhelpful. Her work load might be over as she said saturday was fully book. When I made the booking, I mentioned to check in by 11am-12pm as well. She did not help me to check whether we could stay in one room first. She asked us to go out but where should I go with my family when it was raining?
I returned by 1pm, and the other staff told me that the rooms are not available! I said my dad who got stroke and my baby is a epilepsy kid. I asked whether they can let us in to one room first (as I booked 2) my baby and the elder could settle down. he changed his mind, and checked the system again that there are two rooms available. I was really upset as the 1st receptionist did not ask or check any possibility to get a room by the time. they did not try their best.
After then we asked about parking. We were told that if they park the car $30 and we can get in and out anytime. I asked how about we park our car, there is $20 only.
When we went out for the dinner. we took our parking ticket to validate in the reception. we were told we have to pay $6. I was surprised that no one mentioned it when we asked for. Nevermind, we came here as we would like to try their so called "the biggest and the best breakfast in the town" advertised in the website.
On the second day morning, we went to the restaurant by 8am. I was very disppointed. Hot plate was ok but the fruits were terrible! I did not know how long had they been sitting there. I went to Hilton, Westin, Grand Skycity, City Life...in auckland. This was the worst buffet breakfast I have tried.
By 10am, my daughter had seizure as she was unable to take rest by the day before. She was over-tired. we checked out earlier. I was told to pay my son's buffet and the overnight parking. I paid by credit card. After then, I asked why I did not have the receipt for the room booking. She checked that we haven't paid. So i had to pay it again. Wasting my time.
The day after we went to the hospital as my daughter had 4 seizure!
For their arrangment and unprofessional services provided, they ruin my family holiday! I think their services can only rate at 2 stars or even worst.

great stay on Sunday night on the way back home from the Taupo 1/2 Iron Man.
Wouldn't have been able to afford room at standard rates.
Enjoyed the Jazz on the deck & a good breakfast the next day.

There was a bit of confusion between booking into the Sky City where we thought we were, as we were put into the Sky City Grand. Anyway, it was great accomodation. Room Service made us chicken sandwiches at mignight which was exactly what we felt like, and they were lovely, tasted home made which, in a large metro hotel, was very nice.

According to the online "blurb", I booked "sexiest room in the city" - totally refurbished with views. Yes we got the views from the top floor, but the room was not refurbished - it was exactly the same decor/furnishings as previous stays and was extremely tired. I booked a king bed - and we got 2 x king singles which was hardly a good start for "sexiest room in the city" and a long awaited special weekend away to celebrate a recent milestone in our lives!!. All in all, we were very disappointed and quite frankly felt ripped off.

Was very disapointed with the cleaning standard - as the dirty linen and towels from units where placed in bundles in the hallway for some period of time and when I walked past there was a towel covered in feces - certinally not what I would expect to see at the Skycity Hotel :(

Enjoyed our night. Bed linen lovely. Kids had a blast. Was a bit disappointed with the 'Harbour View', we could only just see the harbour in the distance as several tall buildings were blocked view. However, kids enjoyed watching everything 'below'. Felt the accomodation was very reasonable and would love to stay again. Thanks.

I really enjoyed this stay and would recommend it to anyone. the only slight was when paying the bill and the 10% deposit i had paid wasn't recognised and this is not the first time this has happened. Thouroghly enjoybale, well done, i will come again.

Hotel services and staff were very good. However, the chinese meal we had in the Jade Dragon (formerly Ming ?) was really poor and dreadfully overpriced ! The outrageous bill was $128 for two people including two glasses of beer and no wine

I was disappointed because when we arrived we were offered an upgrade to a re-furbished room with water views for an extra $20. The room was nice but I felt that for what we paid on booking we should have got the quality room anyway and as for the water views???
We could see very little water.
The service by staff was excellent and the meals very nice.

It was all good really and the courtesy of the staff and convenience of place was fabulous. What I really was disappointed / annoyed about was the stink of cigarettes in the room. I even changed the pillows, which helped, as I found it hard to rest with that smell so strong.

We really had a good time at the hotel.THE STAFF WERE VERY GOOD AND PROFESSIONAL. We very much enjoyed the Rita Angus exhibition at the Auckland art gallery,Bella otta tapas bar, the middle east cafe, the casino,the shopping ( especially Smith and Caugheys), the Japanese sushi selection at the atrium food hall ( best in town) and the London Bar for Jazz all within a short walk of the hotel.

Great size, very spacious and good to see that there is an upgrade on the rooms going on which is very good. I was surprised that the hotel was very peaceful considering it is 24/7 casino and I was easily able to relax after a long day of meetings. I was in room 317. The most disappointing thing was I asked for non-smoking and assumed this was a non-smoking room but there was certainly a smell of smoke on the furnishing, bed linen etc.

Thanks for the experience. Unfortunately I got a cold the day before we came, so couldn't enjoy the stay as much as my wife and I had hoped. Maybe next time.
The only thing you could improve on in our opinion was to take the green leaves of the strawberries before you put them in the chocolate tower. Hard to get them out of the melted chocolate.
Everything else was great.
Hope to be able to visit again soon.

Our recent stay at Sky City was pleasant with the exception of the quality of the toilet paper. Never in our travels have we come across such thin rubbish used for loo paper. The tissues in the bathroom were thicker - and softer. The room generally needs a refurb. To get the T.V. remote to work you had to push in the batteries - there was no back on the remote. Apart from that we had an enjoyable stay, the staff were great.

Unfortunately this is the 2nd time we have booked through short rates and things haven't gone smoothly.Not Short rates problem.
Despite paying a 10% deposit Sky City charged us the full amount and then had to credit it back. None of the DND package was in the room when we arrived. We had to phone and ask for it. And we ordered our breakfast and a couple of items were missing.
We didn't complain, unfortunately our attitude was one of "here we go again".
nevertheless, it wasn't as bad as our first visit.
We still enjoyed ourselves.

I have faxed a letter twice to you, with no answer. We had a lovely stay at the Hotel and would highly recommend it for atmosphere and location. We really enjoyed our stay.
However, most of the lights in the bathroom were not working and the shower had no tray as it was sloped in to the ground. It tended to flood the entire bathroom floor making it difficult to get to the toilet without getting wet feet from the shower. However this did not spoil our visit and we will defo be going back again.

Staff were extremely helpful and fantastic to deal with. Room was a little less than we expected but was tidy and all we required. Overall Sky staff made the experience for us, the reception staff were excellent, the restaurant staff were excellent even packing up my meal so I could take it to my room.

Clean and tidy, great location, facilities pretty good, just a spa next to the pool would've been good. The concierge service was top notch. Checkin and checkout very slow, especially the the checkout, much, much too slow.
Room didn't have a hotel book in it when I arrived so had to chase one down. Also, no pen with the stationery. I aslo noticed that it seemed like housekeeping was always always along the hall somewhere, and in fact one afternoon a bunch of the were hanging around the smoking balcony on level two, sitting in the sun and folding linen etc. - very unprofeesional in my opinion.
The hotel bars and restaturants that I tried during my stay were good.
Whilst there is definite room for improvement I would not hesitate to stay at SkyCity Auckland again should the opportunity arise.
Also, I will definitely be checking out shortrates.com for my future accomodation requirements

The rooms were great except it appeared we got a smoking room. However, no biggie. Cleaning personel were lovely.
Parking service was excellent.
Delivery of bags to rooms - excellent
Complaints: You advertise we could get into the room at 3 o'clock. We had to wait until about 5 before we could get into one of them. It was very inconvenient as we needed to change clothes etc.
The worst thing of all was it took us 40 (yes fourty) minutes to check out. There were such a lot of angry people there as well. We were only 3rd in our cue but everyone was frustrated at the lack of expertise and not enough people behind the desk. Not good enough for a 4-5 star hotel.
Also I had paid a deposit and this was NOT recorded anywere.
There was no reduction in rates for what we experienced.

Nice room and booking ws easy and efficient. It was a great way to book a hotel room. There was a little confusion on the front desk over the deposit paid to ShortRates as initially the counter attendant charged me full rate $175- I had to show evidence that I had already paid a deposit and this was soon rectified. Perhaps some inservice training on your arrangements re deposits would avoid the shock of a bill for the full amount.

We enoyed staying with you, we ate at the restaurant down stairs and it was lovely. The only complaint was we booked a non smoking room but still smelt the smoke and think it may have been on the bedspread. Apart from that we were very happy with the way we were treated and would return without any hesitation.

A bit dissapointed since our last stay here. Parking and breakfast are no longer included in the rates which increases the room price by quite a bit. We asked for a King room and instead got two doubles. The condition of the rooms is starting to get a bit old. Maybe time for a refurbishment. i think we'll be staying somewhere else next time.

Massive complex centered around the Skytower. It feels a little like Vagas.
Check-in was smooth and although our room was looking a little tired, it was clean and acceptable. This was a good place to stay for a quick night before flying out. You can catch the Auckland Airport transfer "Airbus" from right outside by the entrance and there is food available 24/7. For now if you are using this hotel as a transit spot and get a good internet rate this is still a deal.
