Things to do
Wanganui is a beautiful city and its river is a focal point for many of the town's attractions. Cruises on the river aboard a paddle steamer are popular with visitors to the city, or the more adventurous could try their hand at jet boating, kayaking, or other eco tourist activities. The town has pretty gardens, an excellent Museum and an Art Gallery. A climb to the top of the 32 metre high memorial at the summit of Durie Hill offers excellent views over the city.

Conveniently located just off SH3 at 16 Alma Road, close to Wanganui town centre, race course, hospital and sporting grounds.

Cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to the arrival date. All bookings not cancelled by this time will have the first nights accommodation invoiced or debited to the credit card account. An administrative fee of NZ$10.00 will be deducted from deposits refunded due to cancellations. To confirm a reservation, The Alma Motel holds a valid credit card number with expiry date, a bank direct credit or a cleared company cheque (not personal).

Doug at Alma is great, and the grounds look great. Unfortunately as ShortRates stuffed up the reservations, and took (and kept) our money despite Doug immediately calling them to tell them they didn't have any rooms available, I didn't get to stay the night there. Doug worked hard to try to find me a room in Warengi, but there weren't any there, so due to Short Rates screwing up, I had to drive a long way out of the way to get a room. So 5 stars to Doug for trying to help me out after this mistake.
