Although the accommodation was cheap the Airport Garden Inn Hotel was nothing like I would have expected a Hotel to be. Decor was very dated, and the menu in the restaurant was something out of the 70s. I would find something a little more expensive next time to have a little more luxury and comfort.

Arriving in the dark it was very hard to see the numbers of the units as the lights are placed between them, not over the numbers. For weary travellers it would be great to see the numbers clearly from the car and not have to get out and check.

I was very impressed with the standard of service. The gentleman at the desk was very polite, made the guests feel wecome, ensured that guests were aware of services available: restaurant services, airport transfers and wake up calls. The room was very warm and cosy indicating preparation for our arrival and showed personal consideration for each individual. He also altered and re-allocated rooms so that we could be closer together since we requested 2 rooms. The rooms were immacculate with particular attention to hygiene ares: bathrooms etc. We really enjoyed our stay and recommend your facility. Thanks again.

The rooms were not anything like on the photo.No air conditioning.Ranch slider had 3 enormous locks on it but the one that was actually part of the door didn't work. Asked for wake up call and never got it.
On the plus side, they did store meat for us overnight.

Accomodation was basic and clean but looked very tired and dated (especially bathroom which was a bit tatty). Staff were very welcoming when checking in in the evening. Staff were very hard to find in the morning (I had to wait for 5 minutes for someone to come to reception so I could checkout) No room service and breakfast buffet very basic.

the staff in the hotel and driver to and from the airport were very helpful- but the cleaning in the unit was very bad the show screen was thick with dirt and the shower walls were dirty ,the shower tray was also dirty.
The bed was OK but no sky channels was disappointing ,the grounds around the pool and the walkways were untidy and there was a lot of litter in and around the landscaping .

We had a bad experience here last year and I inadvertently booked the same place again, not remembering the name. The service was fine, particularly free pickup and drop at airport, all staff were nice, but the room was disgusting. Dirty, dust, bathroom shocking, security zilch, carpet stained and burnt, heating poor. We had just spent 3 weeks in hotels and motels in NZ and paid about the same amount. All others were exceptional.

I live in Wgtn, my daughter lives in Akld - we stayed in the hotel before/after our trip to Aussie, so I could fly and she works near the airport so saved her going back to the Nth Shore. It was FANTASTIC for her to leave her car at the hotel . . . and we free-shuttle back and forth to the airport - a HUGE PLUS - A HUGE SAVING that you need to push / advertise more. The room was comfortable, although a bit cold - need a spare blanket / Duvet in the cupboard.
Shuttle driver and Reception were friendly and helpful.
Would definitely stay again ! !

The first room we had was dark because the a bulb had blown. That was ok because we were moved to another room which was fine. I thought the free shuttle to the airport was very nice as they got us there on time. When we left our room My wife and I carefully locked our room so that no one else could go in there and take anything. At the airport I realised I had left my 3rd Generation iPod Nano in the room. This was only about 10 minutes later so I called the Airport Garden Inn and told them what had happened. I explained to the young man that our room was locked and that no one should be able to get in to it. I also told him that I was driving up from Wellington the next day and would pick up my my Van that was kindly parked at the rear of the Garden Inn. I also told him that I would grab my iPod when I get my van. He told me yes there would be no problem. The next day I called the Garden Inn from Te Poi where I had stayed the night with a relative. The young lady had no knowledge of my iPod? she said that she would contact the cleaners but still no luck. When I got to the Garden Inn to pick my van up there was still no sign of my iPod. To the Staff at the Airport Garden Inn! as far as I am concerned this is unacceptable. There is no way that my iPod would have been lost. Someone knows something and this really makes me angry. I would not recommend the Airport Garden Inn to anyone. I leave there very disappointed and angry. Because of the dishonesty with a certain staff member at the Airport Garden Inn, I now have to pay $150 excess to purchase another one through my Insurance. Very Very angry customer!!!!!!

The room really stunk of cleaner. Shower was a dribble when hot, hot tap in bathroom would not turn off. Place looked rather tired. No bulb in side lamp. Cooked breakfast was very poor.

Accommodation was disappointing (including luke warm shower). The four days free car parking while we were overseas was good, if you took this value off the room cost then what we paid was all the room was worth. If you weren't using the free car parking while overseas then the room was not worth the money.

I was only there overnight but it was good to place to stay for that purpose. The shuttle bus from the airport is a great idea.
Just one minor thing that I didn't mention on the way out. I stayed in room 750 and every now and then there is a noise coming from the toilet I suspect. I think it might be continually refilling or something but you are just getting to sleep and it wakes you up again.
Staff are friendly and the people I met were nice.

Rooms and serive were what to be expected for the price paid. However given the summer temperatures the lack of Air conditioning or at least a fan in the room it made for an uncomfortable time in the room let alone sleep. Would only use again if rooms had some form of cooling. Noted that there was heating in room so assume it would be fine in the winter.

I was dissapointed with the service at this hotel. The room was OK but not as clean as it should have been. The bathroom needed a good scrub and some matienence.
We asked for a wake up call at 3am, so we could catch the 4am shuttle to the airport. We never got that wake up call, I had set my own alarm so we made it to reception at the stated time to catch the shuttle, which we where booked to go on, But it had gone without us. I asked that the receptionist called a taxi at the hotels expense, which he did. Our vecihle was parked at the hotel while we where away for 9 days and despite our fear of it being stolen it was parked at reception on our return. I would not recommend this hotel to my friends and will not stay again.

Airport pick-up suggestion. Perhaps you could log details into your computer, reminding you of the flight number for when guests are arriving and check prior to arrival times. It makes a big difference to have a prompt pick-up service after a long-haul flight.

4 out of 5 meaning this was very good service. The short rates website is excellent for travellors now more and more clients are using the web.
Airport Garden Inn Hotel was a lot further away from the airport than it looks on diagrams, but planes didn't keep me awake - which is great.

very cheap place to book and curtious staff.didnt like the room as it was a bit out of date and smelt of smoke.also the hall way was bombarded with a airfreshner that was a bit over powering and sickly smelling.the area was very unsafe feeling especially making a visit to the nearby shops.never again.it was living a gangsters dream.

Good value for an overnight airport stay. They picked us up at 10.45pm from the airport no problem. The bed was comfortable and the room seemed clean enough - I loved the smell in the hallway and would love to know what cleaning product they were using!
Ordered a cooked breakfast and didn't enjoy it. Might have been me but it tasted odd (maybe the oil they cooked in?) and there was a huge pile of fried onions on the plate. Not to my taste first thing in the morning. Good sized plateful though and my husband ate all his. I expect we would stay there again if we were overnighting at the airport.

the hotel was fine- convenient and reasonably priced- the bed was terribly uncomfortable and our room phone rang once at 3am and then again at 3:30am - so we were uopset with that and the room down the hall had a party full of "Island" people talking loudly until 4:30 AM which was totally unacceptable but I was too tired to complain.

The room was clean. However, the carpet had holes in it, the bathroom had chipped tiles, the toilet seat was broken. In all, I had the impression that the hotel used to once be a very up market place to stay, but was sadly lacking in much needed BASIC maintenance. I did not think that the price charged was a very fair price considering the state of the maintenance. I would not stay there again.
